What are you prepared to do?

Friday, June 23rd, 2006

Today I find myself doing something that has taken years of preparation
in many aspects. However, it’s something that I would never have
guessed I would do during the preparation stage. I was working hard to
learn what I was being taught, but I never knew I would apply it in this
way. How could you know? I know few people who have had their lives
laid out as clear plans before them. Much of life is chance, and the
things you do today could be the preparation that makes you ready to act
on tomorrow’s opportunity.
What are you learning? What do you hope to be ready for?

The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason

5 out of 5 stars!!
I have to give this book the highest rating possible. It is a truly
inspiring, envirogorating read.
Its pages are filled with a set of simple lessons that clearly explain
the path to financial security. Teachings along the way include the
importance of determination, self-control, and hard work. This is the
most frank account of how to be successful that I have ever read. I
personally feel motivated to improve the way that I handle money. I
have already been putting 10% of my earnings away, but I am inspired to
do more. This book has ignited my desire to be more industrious and
hard working so that I may provide for a family and secure a comfortable
and enjoyable future.
This book comes with my highest recommendation.

Police State - episode 1

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

Today the New Jersey police were getting really serious. They had both
entrances to the PATH platform gaurded by squads of 6-8 officers with
several canines as well. They had large sandwich boards that said by
entering the PATH train you must submit your bag for search upon request
of an officer.
DANG!!
Now I’m not smuggling anything illegal, but if I was I would not have
taken the PATH today. No way was anyone going to get through there
looking suspicious.
This was a little scary. I’m not in emotional distress now, but it gave
me a little jump. I would have taken a picture, but I didn’t want to be
searched or detained.
I think when it comes down to it I’m okay with this police state scare
tactic because I believe that there is a real threat out there. Have I
been fooled by 5 years of government propganda? Has the state created
an environment of fear in order to control the poeple? Maybe. But
really I’m glad that squads of police with dogs are going to scare the
**** out of “the bad guys.”
If the boogeyman IS out there, do I want him riding my train? HECK
NO!!
Thank you officers.

New Favorite Author

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

My new favorite author is Constance Brown. She wrote “All About
Technical Analysis”, which I am currently pouring over. I’ve read it
once through, and now I am going back over previous sections to make
sure that the concepts really sink in.
She has a great way of explaining things one step at a time. She also
uses good illustrative chart examples, which I have found quite useful.
Her chapter on “Why Technical Analysis Works” blew my mind last night.
The story she tells is really amaxzing and intriguing. I was even able
to give Kitty goosebumps when I relayed the message of the chapter to
her. And she’s an outdoors person!
She hints in this book that she may write another on the topic of Gann
analysis. This book was written in 2002, and I really hope that next
book is out!!
I highly recommend this to somebody who has a decent understanding of
stock market basics, but would like to improve their ability to read
charts.

An Incredible Book

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

I am reading “All About Technical Analysis” by Constance Brown, and it
is blowing my mind. He really is amazing. There is much more to the
business of technical analysis than I ever knew.
The most amazing chapter of this book is titled “Why Technical Analysis
Works.” In this chapter, Brown discusses the fibonacci ratio,
harmonics, and the work of W.D. Gann. It is utterly astounding to read
the principles there. I believe that this information could drastically
affect my life from this point forward.
It’s hard not to be sucked into a tale of mystery like this. Brown
relates the story of how W.D. Gann used an ancient calculator invented
by the Egyptions to trade markets in his day. Gann had a success rate
of 83%. That is amazing, and I look forward to delving into this
mystery myself.

Running and pounding

Monday, June 5th, 2006

I just ran
flat out,
down the ramp
around the corner
up the platform
to the train.
My heart is pumping.
Sweat is beading on my neck
In the air conditioned Train car.
My long sleeves are still too much.
This seat is soft and the
Time was worth it.
My feet are throbbing
I pounded them
On the tile and concrete.
I raced on commuter and one conductor.
My father flies in out
Of the hiils in Pittsburgh
He leaves tonite bound
For two coasts
One across the pond.
And now I’ll study
I’m searching for jewels
And learning more everyday.

The future

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

Who could ever have known that a gigantic skyscraper would be built
immediately next to this stone cathedral during the church’s
construction? Is it possible that a worker had this thought while
laying the stone for the foundation? Could they have imagined the glass
tower while they were building the stone wall?
This image, of the future and past existing in one moment, sums up my
wonder at the possibilities ahead. Who can dream up tomorrows reality?
I guess the answer is that we all can.

Get The Money 2006

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

That’s right, It’s ON Now! “Get The Money 2006″ is officially in full
swing. It’s an annual year long event that centers around a rigorous
paper stacking methodology. I’m working with Masterminds Unlimited Inc.
to find the best ways to use money to make money.
I will soon be able to say that I’ve been working to understanding the
U.S. Equity markets and options trading for a staggering two months.
What has this work included? How about reading TheStreet.com just about
everyday? How about reading “All About Technical Analysis” by Constance
So and So. And that’s not all!! I’ve also listened to a 14 disc series
by Freddie Rick from Market Essentials which discusses options trading
in depth. I’ve even watched a couple Darlene Nelson DVD’s on trading
the Q’s. I’ve even made about 5 trades of my own so far. That’s as
many fingers as you have on one hand.
I’m lacking real experience, but I’m gaining knowledge. By December
31st of this year, I hope to be much more experienced and educated about
investing and trading. In fact, I plan on making at least 45% on the
portfolio I manage.
Check back in 7 months for the update.

Better Day

Friday, May 26th, 2006

A much better day for me today. Much, much, better. I took a break
from the all day intra-day chart watching, and just enjoyed my work. I
had some really logically demanding problems to work through, but I
appreciate those. My mind is active when I have challenges like that,
and it makes the time fly.
There are a lot of things to look forward too. First of all, THREE DAY
WEEKEND!!! Yea! These are gifts from God. Finally a chance to relax
and catch up with myself. I will LOVE the extra sleep. Maybe we can
buy another plant for the house. I love to do that on weekends.
There is also a good workout on the horizon. I’m now making an honest
effort to increase my strength and endurance. Exercise is amazing in
the way that it makes me more energetic and awake. The affect lasts a
good day or so afterward.
On top of that, there’s sure to be good weather and great food as well.
I’m feeling really positive today :)

A Helping Hand

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Some people would say that picking up hitch hikers is too dangerous
these days. Well, it’s not like I do it everyday, but I couldn’t pass
by this charming young lady. It was really her cool hat that roped me
in. We happened to be headed the same way, down to Pittsburgh. It’s
nice to have company like her on a long trip. We sang songs through the
driving rain.
